Anti reflective coating, also called AR coating or anti glare coating for glasses, is a thin multi-layer treatment applied to eyeglass lenses. Its main purpose is to reduce surface reflections that occur when light bounces off the lens surface.
Standard lenses without any special coating can reflect up to 10% of incoming light. This doesn’t sound like much, but those reflections interfere with vision, make your eyes less visible to others, and cause glare in photographs. Anti reflective coating for glasses reduces those reflections to almost nothing, allowing more light to pass through the lenses for clearer, sharper vision.
